The Mean Green (11-16 6-8) never trailed against the Florida Atlantic Owl in a Saturday night "Black Out". The starters did a good job however bench production continues to be a concern. Hot shooting, especially in the second half, helped propel North Texas to victory. A foul late in the game, which also led to Tony Benford earning a Technical Foul, could have been a game changer however the Owls never could capitalize on the potential momentum shift. North Texas (8-12 3-7) continued to struggle on the road, losing both games to Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech, extending their losing streak to three games. Southern Miss North Texas had perhaps their worst offensive game of the season against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, shooting just 29.4% from the floor for the game, which comes close to the 34.1% the Mean Green shot against Weber State. North Texas also shot just 6 of 15 (40%) from the free throw line. Turnovers played a huge role in the offensive woes as the Mean Green turned the ball over 26 times, which the Lady Golden Eagles capitalized on converting that into 24 points. North Texas (9-14 4-6) had a successful home stand against Southern Mississippi on Thursday evening and Louisiana Tech on Saturday afternoon, winning both games. Southern Mississippi North Texas snapped a 5 game losing streak against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on much improved shooting from the free throw line (20-25 80%) and solid shooting from the floor (21-47 44.7%) and behind the arc (8-17 47.1). The Mean Green led for much of the game while Southern Miss was never able to better than tie the game.
