WBB Game Recaps: North Texas versus Sourthern Miss/La Tech

Hits: 43

North Texas (8-12 3-7) continued to struggle on the road, losing both games to Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech, extending their losing streak to three games.

Southern Miss

North Texas had perhaps their worst offensive game of the season against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, shooting just 29.4% from the floor for the game, which comes close to the 34.1% the Mean Green shot against Weber State.  North Texas also shot just 6 of 15 (40%) from the free throw line.  Turnovers played a huge role in the offensive woes as the Mean Green turned the ball over 26 times, which the Lady Golden Eagles capitalized on converting that into 24 points.

Player of the game recognition goes to Acheil Tac, who was the sole player to make it to double digits for the game and was the team leader in rebounds.  Tac was 5 of 9 (55.5%) from the floor and 2 of 4 (50%) from the line giving her 12 total points. She also managed 7 total rebounds (1 offensive; 6 defensive) and had a steal on 32 minutes of play.

Louisiana Tech

North Texas had a much better game against the Louisiana Tech Lady Bulldogs, but foul trouble became a problem late in the game when the Mean Green were forced to foul to try to extend the game in order to mount a comeback.

The game’s Player of the Game needs to go to Candice Adams, who led the team with 18 points. She was 7 of 14 (50%) from the floor and 4 of 9 (44.4%) from behind the arc. She also picked an offensive rebound and 1 assist with 3 turnovers on 21 minutes of play.

Also in double digits for the Mean Green were Kelsey Criner (13), Acheil Tac (12), and Terra Ellison (10) from off the bench.

North Texas returns to the SuperPit on Thursday, February 11th at 7:00 PM to face the Old Dominion Monarchs.
