ODU Win 10-28-2017

The North Texas (5-3 4-1) defense came up big in the fourth quarter allowing the Mean Green to keep control over its destiny of the West Division of Conference USA. The Old Dominion Monarchs (2-6 0-4) failed to convert three key fourth downs in the fourth quarter preventing the upset of the Mean Green.  Scores by Quarter 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Score Old Dominion (2-6) 10 13 15 0 38 North Texas (5-3) 14 21 0 10 45 Rico Bussey Jr. Becomes Third Receiver to Hit 100 Yard Mark Sophomore Rico Bussey, Jr. lead the Mean Green Receiving Corp with seven receptions for 111 yards with a long of 34 yards and a touchdown. North Texas Suffers Blowout Loss to FAU Owls

This is a game most every Mean Green fan wants to forget and hopefully the players and coaching staff use this as a "teachable moment" where a complete lack of preparation or a bad case of big head cost the team the game and possibly a chance at hosting the Conference Championship in Denton. I'm not going to cover the game as there really isn't much worth going over. Mason Fine Leads Team in Miracle Drive to Defeat UTSA With No Timeouts

UTSA Win - 10-13-2017

Mason Fine lead North Texas (4-2 3-0) on a 98-yard drive to score the winning touchdown in 67 seconds with just 1:07 left on the clock against the UTSA Road Runners (3-2 0-2). #TheDrive may become a defining moment in this season. Prior to #TheDrive, the Mean Green Defense needed to make a critical stop. The defense forced a much needed three-and-out and forced a punt. That punt though pinned North Texas deep in its own territory at the 2-yard line. North Texas continues to control its own destiny with this win making it the third straight win and a perfect record

Jalen Guyton Career Night Helps Lead Mean Green to Second Straight Conference Win

The North Texas (3-2 2-0) offense and defense got off to a bit of a slow start but once they got their feet underneath themselves, the tide started to change. North Texas also scored in both the first and second quarter, ending a Southern Miss (2-2 0-1) stat of preventing a team from scoring in those respective quarters. Saturday night's win puts the Mean Green at the top Conference USA West Division and gives North Texas a huge momentum boost heading into an off week before facing off against the Runners of UTSA. The West Division is wide open with UTSA,

FB: Improved 3rd Down Play, Reduced Errors Allow Mean Green to Overcome Late UAB Push

North Texas (2-2 1-0) squeaked out a nail-biter against the UAB Blazers (2-2 0-1) with Trevor Moore kicking a 22 yard field goal with just seven seconds left on the game clock to put the Mean Green up 46-43. North Texas also won its 500th game in program history. https://twitter.com/MeanGreenFB/status/911771841529892864 Offense Churns Out Yards But Needs More Touchdowns Jeffery Wilson continues to put up amazing yardage for his senior season with the Mean Green. Against the Blazers, thrashed the opposing defense for a season high 211 yards and a touchdown. His most important run came late in the game when he broke free

FB: Third Downs, Penalties, and Special Teams Sink All Hope of a Power 5 Road Win

North Texas (1-2 0-0) went to Iowa City to face off against the Iowa Hawkeyes (3-0 0-0) in search of their first win over a Power 5 conference school since facing off against the Texas Tech Raiders in 1999, defeating the Raiders 21-14 in Lubbock. Instead, the Mean Green fell to Iowa 31-14 with the Hawkeyes scoring 21 unanswered points and shutting out the Mean Green in the second half. https://twitter.com/ZacharyABabb/status/909141161134059521 Going into the half, North Texas held a slim 14-10 lead over the Hawkeyes. The first half seemed especially sloppy as both teams were called for all sorts of penalties. Both

FB Third Down Defense/Special Team Play Sinks North Texas in SMU Upset Hopes

SMU (2-0 0-0) extended its overall record against the North Texas (1-1 0-0) to 31-5-1 by defeating the Mean Green 54-32. The reported attendance for the game was 24,638 but there is no way Ford Stadium was at two-thirds of its capacity. North Texas fans made about 5,000 of those reported in attendance. Courtland Sutton delivered as anticipated with 163 yards on 8 receptions and 4 touchdowns. He has a future in the NFL and is hands down the best player on the Mustang roster. North Texas got off to a an 10-0 lead but then SMU scored 38 unanswered points, shutting out

North Texas Opens 2017 Season With Some New Records

North Texas (1-0 0-0) started its 2017 campaign with a 59-14 rout of the Lamar Cardinals (0-1). The Mean Green are looking to continue the momentum from the 2016 season and post their second winning season in the last 10 years and last night's 668 total offensive yards, a new record that surpassed the 635 total yards against Navy in 2007, was a good start. The last time North Texas won its home opener it finished the season 9-4 with a bowl win. It's still very early in the season but it's hard not to flash back to 2013 when North

New Content Coming to North Texas Sports Statistics for Upcoming Football Season

The kick off of the North Texas 2017 Football Season is less than 20 days away and I have been busy on the Stats portion of the website for Football over the summer. As of August 6th, that portion of the site went live. Google and Bing have been busy indexing those pages for web searches. Many of the football pages should appear in searches and hopefully this site will become a more popular resource for people to track stats for football and basketball. Write-ups on Football Games The goal is to write briefs the day after games are played. I'll try to
