North Texas (6-0) had a bit of an off night on shooting but the defense came up big against the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (0-4). The Mean Green held the Hawks to a low of 34 points, the lowest since 1947 when North Texas played Midwestern State and held the Mavericks (then called the Indians) to just 30 points.
Zachary Simmons lead all scorers with 17 points on 31 minutes of action. He was seven of nine (77.8%!) from the floor including a single made three — his first and only attempt of the season and as far as the blog can tell, his only attempt and make of his career — and he made both of his free throw attempts. He also picked up seven total rebounds, two assists, a block, and two steals to add to his complete stats.
Also in double digits for the Mean Green were Umoja Gibson (12) and Jorden Duffy (11).

Up next for the Mean Green is the Maine Bears (0-4) on Tuesday night, November 17th at 7:00 PM. This will be the second of three games in the Wolfpack Classic with the final game of the series being against the Saint Peter’s Peacocks on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 24th. The start of the game has been moved up to 3:00 PM to accommodate the 6:00 PM kickoff of the final regular season football game against the UTSA Road Runners.
