North Texas Suffers Blowout Loss to FAU Owls

This is a game most every Mean Green fan wants to forget and hopefully the players and coaching staff use this as a "teachable moment" where a complete lack of preparation or a bad case of big head cost the team the game and possibly a chance at hosting the Conference Championship in Denton. I'm not going to cover the game as there really isn't much worth going over. North Texas (4-2 3-0) is coming off of a come-from-behind win against in-state non-rival UTSA. The Mean Green will be looking to continue their winning ways with the conference's leading offensive unit. North Texas sits atop the West Division FAU (3-3 2-0) welcomes the Mean Green in an East-vs-West Conference USA match-up.  Lane Kiffin is in his first year at FAU and has the owls off to a hot start. FAU features the second hottest offensive unit in Conference USA, so this game could become a shootout. FAU does sport the top rushing unit at 258.7 rushing yards per game. Both teams are undefeated in conference action but only team will walk away with perfect conference record. FAU Vitals (3-3 2-0) First season 2001 Athletic director Patrick

Mason Fine Leads Team in Miracle Drive to Defeat UTSA With No Timeouts

UTSA Win - 10-13-2017

Mason Fine lead North Texas (4-2 3-0) on a 98-yard drive to score the winning touchdown in 67 seconds with just 1:07 left on the clock against the UTSA Road Runners (3-2 0-2). #TheDrive may become a defining moment in this season. Prior to #TheDrive, the Mean Green Defense needed to make a critical stop. The defense forced a much needed three-and-out and forced a punt. That punt though pinned North Texas deep in its own territory at the 2-yard line. North Texas continues to control its own destiny with this win making it the third straight win and a perfect record in conference play. The Mean Green are also two games away from becoming bowl eligible for the second straight year

North Texas is coming off the bye week after having traveled to Southern Miss and defeated the Golden Eagles 43-28. Right now the Mean Green offense is on a roll where they are putting up unbelievable numbers averaging 38.8 points per game. UTSA comes to Denton, TX after suffering its first loss in the season to the same team North Texas had just defeated the week prior, 31-29. The Runners always play the Mean Green with a chip on their shoulder as they're always trying to prove they belong. North Texas controls its destiny at the moment where the true Mean Green sit at 2-0. UTSA and LaTech both suffered losses in Week 6 making North Texas the only team in the

Jalen Guyton Career Night Helps Lead Mean Green to Second Straight Conference Win

The North Texas (3-2 2-0) offense and defense got off to a bit of a slow start but once they got their feet underneath themselves, the tide started to change. North Texas also scored in both the first and second quarter, ending a Southern Miss (2-2 0-1) stat of preventing a team from scoring in those respective quarters. Saturday night's win puts the Mean Green at the top Conference USA West Division and gives North Texas a huge momentum boost heading into an off week before facing off against the Runners of UTSA. The West Division is wide open with UTSA, LaTech, and North Texas competing for the top spot. North Texas is coming off a thrilling win against the UAB Blazers for the Conference USA opener for both teams. The offense for North Texas continued to put both yards and points on the board. North Texas sits atop the conference rankings in the following offensive categories -- #1 Points Scored (37.8 PPG), #1 Total Offense (503.5 YPG), #2 Rushing (226.0 YPG), #2 Passing (277.5 YPG), and #1 1st Downs (24.5 PG). Unfortunately the pass defense had a very poor showing and gave up 321 yards and four touchdowns for an average of 18.9 yards per completion to the run-first Blazers of UAB. I'm sure the Mean Green secondary will be looking for some redemption after getting torched. Special Teams played much
