North Texas (9-14 4-6) had a successful home stand against Southern Mississippi on Thursday evening and Louisiana Tech on Saturday afternoon, winning both games. Southern Mississippi North Texas snapped a 5 game losing streak against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on much improved shooting from the free throw line (20-25 80%) and solid shooting from the floor (21-47 44.7%) and behind the arc (8-17 47.1). North Texas (8-10 3-5) fell this afternoon to the Rice Owls in a hotly contested double-overtime match-up.  This is the third straight game against Rice dating back to February 1, 2015 that has required at least one over-time period to determine a winner.  Today's game was a nail biter, especially after the 2nd period.  There were five lead changes and 7 ties in the game. North Texas was perfect from the line tonight shooting 9 of 9 on its Free Throws however shot well under their season average of 46.6% hitting just 37.1 of their shots. The Mean Green (8-9 3-4) fought back from a 27 to 20 deficit at the half to win the game on a Kelsey Criner layup with 1.8 seconds left on the clock to defeat the UAB Blazers this afternoon.  North Texas came out of the locker room for the 2nd half with some adjustments and started to whittle down the Blazers' lead. The scary part of the game was when Criner experienced some sort of a collision near mid-court but was able to recover and continue playing in the game. North Texas (7-9 2-4) fell tonight to the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in Denton, TX.  The Mean Green struggled as costly turnovers kept the offense building any kind of momentum.  The Mean Green's second leading scorer, Candice Adams (11.7 ppg), had an off night only managing 4 points on 14 minutes of play.  In the post-game, Jalie Mitchell commented how the team feeds off of the energy Kelsey Criner provides during the game.  I am of the opinion that Adams is also a key leader to the team.
