North Texas Opens 2017 Season With Some New Records
North Texas (1-0 0-0) started its 2017 campaign with a 59-14 rout of the Lamar Cardinals (0-1). The Mean Green are looking to continue the momentum from the 2016 season and post their second winning season in the last 10 years and last night's 668 total offensive yards, a new record that surpassed the 635 total yards against Navy in 2007, was a good start. The last time North Texas won its home opener it finished the season 9-4 with a bowl win. It's still very early in the season but it's hard not to flash back to 2013 when North Texas surprised a lot of folks with a special season. Hopefully this game is the start of another surprising season
FB Lamar vs North Texas 2017 Preview
In a game that was in question due to Hurricane Harvey hitting the Texas coastline hard with epic amounts of rainfall leading to tremendous flooding, we appear to have the season opening game happening this Saturday between the Lamar University Cardinals and the North Texas Mean Green in Denton, TX at 6:00 pm at Apogee Stadium. North Texas will be looking to start the 2017 season off strong as they work towards continuing on last season's momentum and their first winning season since 2013. Seth Littrell is entering his second season at North Texas after leading the team to a 5-8 season in his first year. Expectations have increased with the nation's second best win increase from the 2016 season. There are
Wren Baker Reflects on First Year as Athletics Director
Mean Green Nation, It is with great enthusiasm I write this letter. August has always been my favorite month of the year. Our campus is buzzing with activity as students return to Denton in droves and our coaches and student-athletes are hard at work preparing for a new season. This year will be an exciting one for North Texas Athletics. One year ago, I officially started in my role as Vice President and Director of Athletics. Much has transpired over the past 365 days. One of our very first initiatives was to develop a new mission statement, “Building Champions and Preparing Leaders through the pursuit of perfection in academics, athletics and life.” It’s simple, concise, and serves as a guidepost for everything
FB North Texas Trip to Play Wisconsin Delayed until 2025
FBSchedules.com is reporting that the North Texas/Wisconsin game is being moved from October 6th, 2019 to September 6th, 2025. Previously, North Texas was scheduled to play the SMU Mustangs on the same day for 2025. At this point in time, SMU currently does not show any other future opponents scheduled for 2025 so it is anyone's guess when the game will be played that year. For North Texas this will open up the schedule for 2019 to allow a fourth out of conference opponent to found, hopefully as a home and home agreement. It will be interesting to see what Wren Baker has up his sleeves as he has been busy since he took over the Athletic Department about a year ago. He
New Content Coming to North Texas Sports Statistics for Upcoming Football Season
The kick off of the North Texas 2017 Football Season is less than 20 days away and I have been busy on the Stats portion of the website for Football over the summer. As of August 6th, that portion of the site went live. Google and Bing have been busy indexing those pages for web searches. Many of the football pages should appear in searches and hopefully this site will become a more popular resource for people to track stats for football and basketball. Write-ups on Football Games The goal is to write briefs the day after games are played. I'll try to go over interesting stats and certain plays that lead into bigger plays that happened during the game. I'm going to
