FB: North Texas Adds Cal and Wyoming to Future Out of Conference Schedule

North Texas announced today that it has signed home-and home agreements with both the University of California (commonly referred to as Cal) Golden Bears and Wyoming Cowboys. This should be a first ever meeting between North Texas and both the Bears and the Cowboys.

North Texas-Cal Future Series Information

  • Sept. 14, 2019 North Texas at Cal (Berkeley)
  • Sept. 10, 2022 Cal at North Texas (Denton)

North Texas-Wyoming Future Series Information

  • Sept. 30, 2023 Wyoming at North Texas (Denton)
  • Sept. 5, 2026 Cal at Wyoming (Laramie)

Both are good additions to the future out of conference schedule.

Also included in the announcement was a game against the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks on September 3rd, 2022 that will be played at Apogee Stadium. North Texas currently leads the series at 23-3-3 with the two teams last facing off in 1994 with the game ending in a 33-33 tie.

This will fill the out of conference slate for the Mean Green through at least 2021.

Something worth noting is currently there is a game between North Texas and SMU already scheduled for Sept. 10, 2022 so I wonder if that game will just be rescheduled for a different date. Also, the Army game has been completely scrubbed from the North Texas FBSchedules website, so it sounds like this year was the last time the two programs will face off in the regular season for the foreseeable future.
