Player of the Game honors goes to J-Mychal Reese who scored a season high 21 point on 35 minutes of action. He was 8 of 12 (66.7%) from the floor, 2 of 3 (66.7%) from behind the arc, and made all 3 of his free throw attempts. He also gathered up 9 rebounds (1 offensive; 8 defensive), an assist, and 2 steals.
Also in double digits for Mean Green was Shane Temara (18) and A.J. Lawson (10) while Ryan Woolridge lead the team with 10 rebounds.
This was the first conference win for the Mean Green and first for 2017. With Rice also defeating Florida International, this bumped North Texas into 13th place in the conference and is 2-1/2 games behind Southern Miss. The Mean Green must win against again Saturday if they want to continue to have a chance to make the conference tournament, which will only take the top 12 teams. North Texas can use all the help it can take and UTEP defeating Southern Miss will help close the gap if the Mean Green beat the Golden Panthers.
Up next for the Mean Green is Florida International on Saturday, February 11th at 6:00 PM in Miami, FL.
