North Texas fell to the Thundering Herd in Denton Thursday night bringing their over all record to 7-10 and 2-2 in CUSA play. The Mean Green never could counter the barrage of 3-pointers that the Herd brought to the SuperPit. North Texas continued to struggle at the Free Throw line shooting just 51.9% for the game.
The obvious Player of the Game is Jeremy Combs, who posted a career best 28 points in 34 minutes. Combs shot 12 of 19 (63.1%) from the floor and was 4 of 7 (57.1%) from the Free Throw line. Combs also brought in 18 Rebounds (6 Offensive; 12 Defensive) making this his 6th double-double of the season and third in a row. Combs continues to make a case for being on the All Conference-USA First Team.
Also in double figures for the Mean Green was J-Mychal Reese and Ja’Michael Brown, each with 14 points. Brown accounted for all 4 of North Texas’ 3-Pointers, all of which came in the second half.
Deckie Johnson sat out from the game due to an ankle/foot injury.
North Texas' leading scoring Deckie Johnson (14.4 ppg) is a game-time decision with a sprained foot. Would be a big loss if he can't go.
