For the final out of conference match up, North Texas outlasted the Bearkats in a game that saw 8 lead changes and 6 ties.  Foul trouble was a problem for the Bearkats late into the 2nd Half of the game however no players fouled out of the game for either team.

Today’s uncontested Player of the Game is Deckie Johnson with 27 points (Career High @NT) shooting 8-13 (.615) from the floor, 3-6 (.500) from behind the arc, and 8-12 (.667) from the charity stripe.  This is his 10th game to post double digits in a game so far this season and he is averaging 14.3 points per game.

Another solid contributor in tonight’s game was J-Mychal Reese with 13 points.  His biggest contribution was at the lines shooting 8-10 (.800), sinking some huge free throws late in the game when the Bearcats were fouling to try to extend the game.  Both Johnson and Reese lead the team in points per game with 14.3 points per contest.

Jeremy Combs lead the team defensively with 12 Rebouns (5 Offensive; 7 Defensive) in 32 minutes of play.

Up next for the Mean Green is the UTSA Road Runners on January 1st in San Antonio, Texas at 6.00 PM.  The game is also available on the American Sports Network.  I will post (or Tweet) the local channels to DFW, if they are available.

Games Stats have been posted for tonight’s game.

Wednesday I will be posting a breakdown of the season so far and attempt to peer into the magical basketball globe of destiny and give my HSO on what I think is in store for the Mean Green in conference play.  Thursday I will post the Conference USA Rankings for all the significant stats.  I am also adding the RPI rankings of the teams as that does sometimes come into play regarding the selection process for post season play for some times that do not win the conference tournament.
