Player of the Game honors goes to J-Mychal Reese who scored a season high 20 points on 33 minutes of play. Reese was 5 of 10 (50%) from the floor, 2 of 4 (50%) from behind the arc, and a perfect 8 of 8 from the Free Throw line. He also added two Defensive Rebounds and four Assists to his stat line for a very solid night of basketball for the Mean Green.
Also in double figures for the Mean Green was Deckie Johnson (15) and coming off the bench A.J. Lawson (15).
Slow starts have been a trend so far in this season. The Mean Green have averaged just 27.4 points per game in the first half but have fared better in the second half with 43.2 points. The Mean Green have held opponents to 32.2 points per game in the first half but have allowed 41.2 points in the second half, leaving an average point difference of -2.8. The Mean Green need to pick up their point production, especially in the first half, if they’re going to be in a better position to get above the .500 mark on the season.
