Times have not been set and exact dates could be shifted slightly to accommodate broadcast media. Last year the final schedule was set around the beginning of June. North Texas will get a bye in weeks 6 (October 5th) and 12 (November 16th). These seem like they have been put into advantageous spots for the Mean Green as these will be before traveling to Southern Miss (and after Houston) and before traveling to Rice (and

MBB: North Texas Still Perfect in Overtime Thriller

North Texas (7-0) is off to its best start in 50 years where in 1968-69 the Mean Green started their season undefeated in seven wins. The matchup against the Maine Black Bears (0-5) took an overtime period to get it done but a win is a win. Still, it is quite alarming to see the Mean Green go cold in their shooting for more than nine minutes to finish out regulation. This team plays some solid defense though that will bail this team out of tough situations. The Mean Green also shot 83.3% from the charity stripe to keep extending their lead as the game clock wound down in the game. Zachary Simmons set a new career best 24 points on

MBB: North Texas Routs Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks on Strong Defense

North Texas (6-0) had a bit of an off night on shooting but the defense came up big against the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (0-4). The Mean Green held the Hawks to a low of 34 points, the lowest since 1947 when North Texas played Midwestern State and held the Mavericks (then called the Indians) to just 30 points. Zachary Simmons lead all scorers with 17 points on 31 minutes of action. He was seven of nine (77.8%!) from the floor including a single made three -- his first and only attempt of the season and as far as the blog can tell, his only attempt and make of his career -- and he made both of his free throw attempts.

MBB: North Texas Defeats Texas A&M Commerce to Remain Perfect on the Season

North Texas (5-0) tied a program record in draining 19 3-pointers against the Texas A&M Commerce Lions (3-0). The last time the Mean Green drained this many 3-pointers was against Mary Hardin Baylor on Nov. 25th, 1996. North Texas got a solid performance for many of its players in this game to maintain its perfect record of 5-0 and 2-0 at home. Umoja Gibson came up big again scoring 22 points to lead all scorers. He was eight of 13 (61.5%) from the floor and was six of 11 (54.5%) from 3-point range. He also added four total rebounds, four assists, and a steal to his total stat sheet on 25 minutes of play. WBB: #11 Texas’s Height Too Much to Overcome for the Mean Green

In a match-up of "Teacher versus Student" where Jalie Mitchell's Mean Green faced off against former Mean Green coach Karen Aston's (2011 15-16) University of Texas squad. Mitchell was coached by Aston when she was a player (1998 - 2002) and also served as an assistant coach (2011) for the one season Aston was the head coach for North Texas in addition to the University of Texas (2012-2015). Player of the game goes to senior Terriell Bradley who was six of 16 (37.5%) from the floor, three of seven (42.9%) from 3-point land, and made all three of her shots from the free throw line giving her a total of 18 points for the night. She also picked up seven total rebounds,

MBB: North Texas Defeats Hawaii to Win Rainbow Classic Tournament

North Texas (4-0) defeated the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (2-1) 68-51 to sweep the tournament and bring home another piece of hardware to add to their collection. https://twitter.com/MeanGreenMBB/status/1062022522579767296 It's a bit tough to give a single player PotG recognition when there were two players scored 13 points and it was a total team effort to putting the Warriors away. Jorden Duffy scored 13 points on four of 10 (40%) shooting from the floor, two of six (33.3%) from behind the arc, and made all three of his shots from the free throw line. He also added seven total rebounds, and an assist on 32 minutes of action. Newcomer Jahmiah Simmons also scored 13 points on five of nine (55.6%) shooting from the floor, was 0

MBB: North Texas Grinds Out Win Against the Portland Pilots

North Texas (3-0) played its first Div. I opponent, the Portland Pilots (1-2), and grinded out a win 78-73. This was the most difficult opponent the Mean Green have faced in this young season and the team responded well despite some foul trouble hitting Umoja Gibson and Zach Simmons. Despite foul trouble through much of the game, sophomore Zach Simmons posted a career best 23 points. He was 10 of 12 (83.3%!) from the floor and made all three of his free throws on 27 minutes of action giving him .85 points per minute. He also picked up six rebounds, an assist, and a block despite finishing the game with four fouls. Ryan Woolridge also posted one of his best games contributing 22
