The Mean Green (8-9 3-4) fought back from a 27 to 20 deficit at the half to win the game on a Kelsey Criner layup with 1.8 seconds left on the clock to defeat the UAB Blazers this afternoon.  North Texas came out of the locker room for the 2nd half with some adjustments and started to whittle down the Blazers’ lead. The scary part of the game was when Criner experienced some sort of a collision near mid-court but was able to recover and continue playing in the game.

Player of the Game has to go to Kelsey Criner as she made three clutch buckets in the final 1:15 of the 4th period.  Criner was 6 of 11 (54.5%) from the floor, 0 of 2 from behind the arc and 1 of 2 (50%) from the stripe with 2 Defensive rebounds.  Criner also had 4 Assists with only 3 Turnovers and 3 steals while playing the entire 40 minutes.

Also in double figures today was Terra Ellison (15) and Acheil Tac (12) with Ellison also playing all 40 minutes.  Sophomore Post Tosin Mabodu also contributed some major minutes while Tac had to sit due to foul trouble.  Mabadu was 3 of 5 (60%) from the floor (6 total points) while bringing in 7 Rebounds (1 Offensive; 6 Defensive) with 1 Block and 1 Steal on 3 Turnovers in a season high of 24 minutes of play.

Next game for the Mean Green will be against the Rice Owls on January 30th at the SuperPit in Denton, TX at 2:00 PM.  This will be a special game for the Mean Green Women’s program as they look to recognize the 1986 NCAA Tournament Team.
